Default Ignition LED Bulb Replacement Question

Tonight I tried to replace old burnt out bulb with #74 LED bulb. I read that I will need to do a little sanding/shaving/filing to make this bulb work(ok... no prob.. fine). I removed old bulb, inserted new bulb... found correct polarity and could get the new LED to light up. But couldn't get it to stay in wiring harness. I bought extras... tried a couple of different "sizing methods/mods", couldn't get the bulb to "lock" into receptacle.

What part of the new LED bulb do I need to modify?

Thanks,
Sam

I had the same problem with my #74 LEDs in my footwells, I used a little dab of crazy glue to retain the bulb. Works well and holds them upside down without disconnecting, but if you are careful with your application of glue all you need is a little tug to remove them.

Don't make the same mistake as I did by fitting what turned out to be poorly fitting/quality LEDs.
The thing decided after a few weeks to go short circuit resulting in a damaged Integration relay, not only is this device expensive but a PITA to actually remove and refit.
I have now got a conventional bulb back in there.

Should be the same. a 74 size. We have them in every color, $1.99 each.

usually aftermarket LEDs are larger than the standard bulb so i'm surprised to hear it doesn't stay in. i would wedge a small piece of plastic (maybe the tip of a zip tie) in the socket. unfortunately most LEDs out there are not consistently made.

Yeah, the ones i bought the base was just a bit too narrow. Foot wells would fall out if i hit a good bump. They are off now. The key light was a little loose but is still holding on.

Funny, after almost 4 years on ownership i just noticed the green light around the driver side door lock. Its partially light. Swear it was never on before now.
