Finally had some time to look into the issue. My sub has broken terminals on the speaker itself. I would like to replace the sub with something else same size. I'm not looking to win audio competitions. The last 8" sub I had was a JBL and it would hit pretty hard. Sounded great in my 951. That car was a hatchback so it was all open unlike the LS which has much more sound deadening.

Would this sub work? From my research the stock system puts out 50 watts @ 2 ohms for the sub. If those specs are correct that sub would fit the bill perfectly.

Work yes. But you might run into my issue the sub will not fit down into the hole. Either have to mount from below or widen the hole. I didnt do either and put old sub back.

Well, if you're looking for a direct replacement, look at shallow 8" subwoofers. The one you posted, based on the specs, are pretty dead-on. Any issues you run into with mounting it can be quickly taken care of with a drill (or an MDF adapter in extreme cases). I would suggest replacing the radio/subwoofer but in this scenario, you don't really want to have to replace your radio (This car is a freaking nightmare. Don't even bother with the RCA method that some people have mentioned in the past. Just bypass the amp and save yourself a day of agony.) but it does allow for that Bluetooth which you seem to be interested in. The head unit I am installing (well, finished installing) comes with Bluetooth and a cute little microphone (which I positioned as depicted in the image below [credits to: anarchyx34]). PM me if you want any more info.

On LexLS tutorial he uses a kicker sub similar to this one. He cut off the mounting ring from the stock sub and it worked without any MDF.

keep in mind any replacement of the stock sub will require a sub made to work in free air/IB applications.

That Kicker is made for free air operation.

At least you don't have to deal with the 16 ohm ML sub like I have too. eBay was good to me but still...

This. Or, you could build a "deck box" which has been done in the "Audio set up thread", though it looks kind of odd...
