Default Wideband O2 sensor placement?

I'm going to order my wideband tonight. Still deciding between the Innovative or the AEM. But anyway, I've read that's its ok to run just one wideband sensor on a V style motor, but which bank should I run it on? Or does it really matter.

I'm starting to gather parts for my s/c setup, and I figured I'd go ahead and get this installed, and also figure out what tuning setup I'll be using and get that sorted out too. I'd like to get the car sorted out as much as possible before bolting on the supercharger. If my plans work out, I'll pick up a procharger unit by late November or early December.

Left or Right bank?

I dont think it matters.

I would get as close to the motor as possible.

I ran an AEM wideband on my Merkur, with a Megasquirt MS2. I installed the wideband right off of the turbo, I also heard that installing too close to the motor will wear the sensor out. but im going on a few years so far.

check out www.diyautotune.com

I would also recommend there fuel injection book as well.

I think I'm going to end up putting it on the passenger side on my cat delete pipe just after the factory O2 sensor. I think the AEM is more user friendly than the innovative, so I think I'll just order that.

running one is fine on a v8 unless you actually have standalone EM and can tune the banks individually.

I've got a PLX on order. Has the added benefit of having a 5v analog output so you can use it to shut the factory ECU up. same bosch lsu sensor as the aem/innovate.

btw i recently got confirmation for the '98-00 at least. factory O2 sensor is M18x1.5, same as the wideband bosch that's commonly found.

I just checked out the PLX and it looks like a pretty decent gauge. It's a little more than the the AEM or the innovative, but I like the slim design though.

PD - For a low boost set-up (6-8psi) do you think I could get away with running a SAFC with no option to mess with timing? Or would it not really even be worth it? I'm just curious, because a friend of mine offered up his Apexi SAFC to me for dirt cheap. I thought about grabbing it and running it for a little while and see how it goes. I figured if I get it for next to nothing, I wont really have wasted any money if I have to upgrade to something like megasquirt.etc. I've heard of people running just a simple piggyback and everything running good on low boost applications.

Really? The PLX is dirt cheap, <$200 with the gauge. (the combo price is cheaper than the lone wideband module).

SAFC is good for fuel only, it has no timing control ability. but a 1LS with low boost will probably be fine with fuel control only as long as you're on stock cams.

I've found the AEM at a few different sites for around $150-160 with everything. I'm not saying I wouldn't pay a few extra bucks for a nicer unit or anything.

I plan on running stock cams for a good while, so I might throw the AFC on it just to get a decent tune.

Am I wrong by saying that I can run a stock fuel setup on about 6-8psi? I've seen the rising rate fuel pressure regulators, but I don't think I want to use one.

I wouldn't use the factory fuel system for any FI at all, but then I like to do things properly...

I've seen the PLX in the same neighborhood of the AEM you speak of.

There's the PD I know.... What would you suggest, bigger fuel pump? I believe the stock injectors are good for around 350whp?

Still deciding on the wideband, but I just purchased a Apexi NEO SAFC. If I have the funds for it, I'll throw it on the dyno in October at a big lexus meet we are having at Titan motorsports. I think it was $50 for three pulls. It would be kind of interesteing to see what I can get out of a basicly stock LS with a slight tune.... I'm guessing around 220-230whp?

Figured out where I'm putting the SAFC. I took the ashtray out, and I'll mount it there. I'm going to order the wideband next week and finally do a little tuning with it. I started to modify the ashtray itself. I wanted to put it inside the tray so I could close it and have it be hidden. Sadly the safc is too wide for the tray though. I think this will still be pretty clean.
