Default Programming : MPX BODY ECU MODULE

This is the module that is located on the firewall in the drivers footwell near the steering column.

Previous thread in the forums said that this does a number of things. One thing is interfacing the security system with the key.

I am changing mine out (2000 LS400) and am curious if I can program it at the house like I did when I got an additional key (actually that was on a 1997) OR does it have to go to Lexus?

Thanks for any and all comments.

By the way is there a list covering what this module actually does control?

Thanks again,

David

Am I doing something that no one has done before?

What issues are you have with your body ECU?
I'm having issues with my driver door and have for a while. My keyless will lock the car but will not unlock. The car "doesn't notice the driver door is open" (ie: no courtesy lights) until the ignition is turned. Then it is like "oh durrr, the door is open". If any other doors are manually unlocked the alarm is set off. All other doors work fine.

I recently sourced a driver door MPX on ebay for a hell of a deal that I couldn't pass up and tried it. Nothing. Still the same problems. I've talked to Yamae about this a little and I kind of think it may be a door actuator motor issue. He has a blog that shows a DIY on how to "fix" a gummed up door motor. This to my understanding can also free up some malfunctioning keyless controls. Anyway, here is a link to Yamae's blog entry.

I'm sorry if this has steered away from your intent on this thread.
Here is another link to what seems to be multimeter testing on the doors and body ecu.
