Default key progamming

can you guys direct me to a past thread about programming the remote to our keys i lost mines and about to order one from sewell lexus but it doesnt come programmed car must be present so if you can help me out thanks about to bring her out from hibernation

thanks it seems like ill have to go to the dealership because ive lost the master key any idea how much they charge for that? and is there a way to program a new key without the master

They have to replace the ECU. I would avoid Lexus at all if possible. I hear of some people going third party to "reprogram" the ECU somehow.

That's one of the reasons why I have 3 master keys. I keep one with me, one inside the house (in case someone needs it), and the other one inside a safe (as a last resort backup).

does anyone know how i can go third party to get my ecu reprogrammed i dont have 2000 to shell out for a ecu right now help

This may sound stupid but if you do end up having to pay that much, maybe you can use the money to buy a SmartKey system off a junked Prius or Lex instead and add a start-button to your car so at least you don't feel like you wasted your money I'd love a smartkey lex...

that doesnt sound stupid at all next question i need all the help i can get from you guys springs around the corner any way can i buy that or an ecu from a junkyard and if so where does any one know of such a junkyard that sell those kind of lexus parts if so please post thanks

It would probably be a lot more expensive than getting a new ecu. I'm sure there's more involved.

actually i had that same problem, and the dealer didnt charge me anything to program it, but i had a locksmith cut it.

my cost:
Key on ebay - $60
cut key - 60 (ignition program included)
remote programming at the dealer - 0

driving away with a new key priceless
