Default BWD Coolant Temperature Sensor

http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/web...3-p#fragment-3

Anybody have any experience (good or bad) on this coolant sensor from Advance Auto?

Its $19.99 (with 20% coupon) if ordered online and I pick it up at my local store.

I know OEM parts is always recommended but my Toyota dealer wants close to $80 (w/tax) for the sensor.

I don't need to change the sensor (car runs fine), just wanted to try what a lot of people claimed that a new coolant sensor did wonders for thier LS400.

I have that exact same sensor in mine from the same place. It made a WORLD of difference with how the car runs, especially when it's in cold start up mode. I have had zero issues with it.

Its been a couple of weeks since I installed this BWD Coolant Temperature Sensor and have zero issues so far. Car runs great but the one thing that I noticed right away is that the car seems to shifts a lot better -- not that it was bad before but it goes thru the gears faster even when the motor is cold. Not sure if anybody else experienced a difference the way the transmission behaved.

Fuel economy might be a little better as well -- hard to tell for sure since it only gets driven once a week.

I just put this BWD in mine also, along with a new T/stat, trying to get away from the CEL p0125 light.
so far so good.

quick n00b question, do you need to rebleed the entire system when changing this?

if you just do the sensor, if you were to introduce any air, it will self bleed via a couple of hot/cold cycles, just watch the reservoir. As the sensor is at one of the very highest points in the whole system, essentially zero coolant is lost, and therefore essentially zero air has gotten in!
