regardless that's sewell's website, lexus isn't going to discontinue a vital wear component on cars that are within service life.

Good to know. I've been wondering what it would cost to replace the weatherstripping, now that you mention it. I hear a lot more of the 'road' lately when out and about -- that might be one cause. Went to an online parts catalog (not sewell) and it appears the engine mounts for the first gens are available. No warnings or discontinueds that I could see, so looks like we're good for now. Will be interesting to see how differently the car handles after installation of the mounts.
A followup after having had the work done. WOW. Had no idea what a difference new engine and transmission mounts would make. The car was so quiet this morning on startup that for a minute I thought the battery was dead (and that it wasn't running). I did have the throttle body cleaned last week, which really helped smooth out acceleration, but the quiet start and more buttoned down engine feel is definitely related to changing the mounts.
One more followup, which is kind of jaw dropping, but replacing the engine and trans mounts seems to have either fixed or greatly improved two other problems that I was dreading dealing with -- the flickering dash instrument panel AND the trac warning light.
After the mounts were replaced, the dash lit up all bright and shiny and didn't flicker. It's possible that that problem will resurface in months to come but for now it has stopped. I have only seen it flicker very briefly ONCE since having the mounts replaced, whereas before it was flashing like crazy and eventually going dark nearly every time I drove it. It was the worst in cold weather. And I haven't seen a trac warning light since the mounts were replaced either. And that trac warning light used to come on nearly every other time I drove the car, and once on it stayed on until I turned the car off. It's also possible that the trac light is not coming on due to the recent brake pad and brake fluid replacement, but whatever is behind these improvements, I am thrilled.
