Default Trunk release on remote does'nt work

95 ls400
Ever since I bought the car the trunk release on the remote has not worked.
I had always figured that the previous owner bought a replacement remote with an extra button.

Did the second gen ls400 have a remote control trunk release function?
If yes, any reason why mine would not be working?

if the interior release works the remote is probably toast. If you have a store near you with an RF remote tester, you can try to see if the remote is transmitting a signal when the trunk button is pressed.

I actually may have a spare remote or two for it if you need them. PM me if interested.

Wow thank you. I Love this club.

Interior release works.
Lock, unlock, and panic work on the remote but ill get it tested to check.
Is that something only a dealer could do or any auto parts store?
I remember seing a rf tester somewhere recently but dont remember where.

Did you keep pushing the remote trunk button for at least several seconds?
Lock / Unlock needs just a second but the trunk needs several seconds to work, you know.

You can try removing the negative terminal on the battery for about 30 seconds and put back on and try. Mine wasn't working before and I did that and it reset it and it work again.

local radioshacks usually have the testers.

as Yamae said, you are HOLDING the trunk release button down right? To clarify, a stock '95 alarm remote has Lock, Unlock, and Trunk Open buttons on the front, and a red Panic button on the back.

Going rate for used alarm remotes on ebay seem to be in the $70-90 range, I'd give you mine for much less lol.

NOTE: If you are seeing this months, years, decades from now (9/2/12). please do NOT bring this thread back to ask if the remote is available. if it's over a month, assume it's gone.

The trunk release button on my 95's remote has started to act flaky lately. If you don't press [and hold] it just so, the trunk won't release. But pressing it with the thumb moved slightly it will open.

I think the contacts inside the remote may be dirty such that they don't make contact with each other to release the trunk. Yours could simply be dirty.

However, I haven't looked at the remote closely enough to see if it can be taken apart where the contacts can be cleaned.

Well I feel pretty stupid.
2 years of owning the car and I never tried holding the button down.

Needless to say my remote works.

The guy I bought mine from owned it for 5 years and didn't know why the trunk release didn't work while he was showing me the car. He handed me the remote and I held the button not knowing that I needed to. It opened and he was like "I think this car has found it's new owner."

Thumbs up Hahaha

I love this thread, I have thought my trunk button was broken since the day I got this car, and today I just walked outside and popped my trunk and laughed embarrassingly at myself .. =)

Thanks Guyz
