I could of sworn someone on here told me the newer model 400's did not have EGR's. Turns out they do. Do they or should they ever be cleaned? I wonder if they are prone to some of the same problems you hear about on the earlier non vvti 400's? EGR pipes breaking.

actually, no, the 98-00 doesnt have an EGR, the EGR function is served by the VVT-i.

the part numbers correspond to '95-97 EGR parts, the picture even shows a '95-97 style intake, not a 98-00, Sewell's parts catalog is wrong.

 

Weird. RockAuto also list an EGR for our year.

 

find an FSM for your car, index, look for "EGR". the problem lies with the trademotion catalog most dealers use for parts lookup, it is mislisted.

The Princess Bride, that was back in 1987. PD may not have had that type of movie in mind in those days.

 

Well PD, the movie is about this girl who falls for this prince. See, he has not had his pipe (EGR) cleaned in a really long time. Who knows what kind of blockage has built up in there... After she shows him she is certified and knows plenty about recirculation and cleaning, the entire assembly, he cannot resist her. Even to the point that when a jealous and evil man, who also has a dirty pipe, tries to steal her away for his own maintenance. He takes his revenge and gets her back. A story of true love. It is worth watching if you have not seen the movie.
