Well folks, its decision time. I have been trained to seek out any and all information to make the most informed decision possible (particularly when its important and wrenching (pun intended))...

my old girl has seen her better days; however, she has many more ahead of her....I am just not sure if it is with me...so, I would like to pose to you all the oportunity to talk me into or out of my old girl! I am trying to decide whether to prop her up and convert the suspension to coil overs or just dump her as is; of course, I am interested to know what all you experts believe she is worth, as is...

she is a 1991 LS400 with a touch over a quarter million miles. I believe that she has had but a few owners the most recent and longest being an older woman from whom I acquired her. she has been down the road more than once, hence many of the usual quirks exist. Currently, and most pressingly, she has blown the passenger front air bag (how it made it to now with the air ride is beyond me!)...

she runs great and is often accused of being a newer model due to her very quiet purr. she is stock as they come. I put new front calipers and brakes on her recently...other than that I have been fortunate not to have to do anything besides change the oil. timing belt was replaced at 180k (according to the 7 years or so of records provided by the local shop that took care of her). the gauges are a bit quirky, but still mostly work, there are some lights out in the console, and of course, the climate lcd is gonzo. the interior is aged but decent. the antenna needs rebuilt and she could stand a fresh set of speakers (rears are completely dead).

I will try to get some photos up in the coming days...meanwhile, grill me...I've asked for it! and tell what you think you or the average person would give for this wonderful relic....and feel free to tell me to quit whining and jack her up and get to work!

Just from what you posted I'd agree to up to $1800 if I REALLY wanted the car.

That being said I thought these types of threads aren't allowed?

Shocks and some soldering? Pffft. What used car could you get with even double what you can sell it for and not have to do the same amount or more work on?

Craigslist here generally showing $1300-$2300 for a first gen.

thanks for the input so far....if this sort of thread is a violation, I apologize....I have enjoyed the old girl and the knowledge I have obtained here...I knew that it would be difficult to use traditional resources to establish a value for her; besides, I wanted the opinion of folks like you guys who know these cars best as well as might be interested in a pretty good project car....

since posting I have had the computer go out on my jeep...so, the chances of keeping her is deteriorating....praying for a winfall!

KBB only goes back to 1992....

did an autotrader search:
Highest Price:$5,995
Lowest Price:$1,900
Average Price:$3,929

these all seem to be in good running order....so mine with a lean is not a good comparison there.

I was thinking she was probably worth between 1500 and 2000....I just have not had much experience selling a car like this that has some theoretical value (somewhat desireable) as well as some major fault (bad air ride)....thanks again folks!
