Need some advice on my 1999 LS400
My ‘99 LS400 has a Navigation system that has some issues.
I'm not concerned about the Navigation part as I am with the other controls. The touch screen works when you 1st start up and as long as you don’t change screens, audio, climate or menu, from the one you are using then all is okay. Once you change screens and go back the display goes blank. The audio you cannot preset or even change the stations with the touch screen.
Long story short, I want to install an aftermarket stereo in place of what is there now. My concern is the climate controls. How do I make sure I can still work all the climate controls that are in the touch screen after I replace the unit that is in there now? Will a standard climate control panel work and then install a double din stereo nav unit

This may help, if you are not confident to DIY there are repair companies that will do the job.

The nav system is fully integrated so aftermarket replacement is very difficult if at all possible.

actually its quite simple.
1. buy a dash kit+harness from beatsonic (not cheap, but they make the only plug and play setup to retain the factory amp+speakers+sub), for the aftermarket radio of your choice
2. buy a normal (ie.- Non-Navigation) Climate Control unit from a '98-00 LS400 (only those years will work)
3. remove old nav headunit
4. Install new climate control (it will use the same plugs as the nav unit, but not all of them. some of the plugs are for the audio system, and some are nav-specific. but the Climate control plugs will fit EASILY into it).
5. install new radio harness (beatsonic) and headunit+dash kit.
