I'm suggesting that you won't ever find a replacement screen for 95+ and the only option will be to call around to junkyards, verify they have a good clean screen and use that unit. You should at least get a few years, if not 5-10 out of it if the screen is perfect and shows no signs of fading. Try northern or eastern junkyards where the climate isn't as intense.

do you have any evidence of this? - this is a time related issue, and all 1996 screens are the same age, unfortunately

Time and use. If a car sits in a garage and is only driven a few thousand miles a year it should have a better screen as opposed to the same car that has 200k on the odometer. Same with a west coast or southern car compared with a car in a region that rarely gets super hot consistently.

You could also factor in windshield screens that block the sun.

The evidence is that I have a pile of 95+ climate units here and there is a mixture of good screens, screens that you can see some black if you hold it at an angle, screens that have a slight shadow on the bottom holding it straight on, and screens that are all black. They are all the same age.

I'm almost positive all auto glass is UV resistant. UV-A still gets through however. UV-B what causes sunburn is blocked.

When the replacement part is not available any more, I usually use some other LCD unit analyzing the circuit and the part. This requires some skill and equipments such as a oscilloscope and a logic analyzer but to keep and use old equipments sometimes needs to do this type of work. It's not easy but I enjoy doing it as a hobby.

Below is a 7 segments LCD unit originally made for a VCR's remote commander. Currently I am trying to use it for a radio equipment which has a dark LCD problem. The radio's LCD is driven by a micro controller and I need to analyze the signals. Now I almost finished it and I am about to install the VCR's LCD. I would try the same, if the climate LCD of my Celsior was broken.

Most of the LCD units have 7+1 segments for a digit. In order to perform a dynamic operation, some tricks are done and you have to be careful for choosing the similar one.

Bumping a super old post here, but all good things come with enough time.

We received a lot of demand for this LCD so we made it. We only have a few on hand now, more will be coming in several weeks.

Yes, we will always have gen 1 stuff available.

We asked the guys on the SC430 forum about climate LCD's also, but they didn't think there was enough demand. A lot of those units go out with black or bleeding screens too and replacement units aren't exactly commonplace.

We are also starting to see 98+ climate screens failing from all Lexus models.

What you need it some good advertising that you have or make them, there maybe a greater demand than you think. Not many may know about Tanin and what you do. Shops that deal with Lexus's need to know. We are all happy that you have them.
