Default 94 ls400 hp

Anyone have suggestions for an original LS400 for more horsepower?

No really though, the supercharger is a dang good idea, seeing as the internals of the 1UZ-FE, from what I hear are SUPER strong. A turbocharger isn't a bad idea either. Both are hell pricey for a full set up.

What are you trying to do with the car? Because if you have any desire to make it a go-fast car. You can start ripping out all that weight.

Lextreme.com has a bunch who have done a lot of mods to the non VVTi 1UZ-FE's. (and VVTi's, but more so non VVTi's)

The 98-00 LS400's lose around 10 hp and 10 lb-ft torque compared to the GS400, according to Lexus the only difference is in the exhaust. Likely the earlier LS's are similar in restriction to keep the noise down. The GS's are by no means loud, actually quite quiet....

Default i 2nd the exhaust opinion

I looked under my 94 and wondered how many mufflers could one need. With three cats and 4 mufflers and the tiny, really tiny, exhaust piping maximum flow from intake through to tailpipe could not have been a consideration. I've never looked at the 1uzfe head , but I'll bet thereare restrictively small ports. Dump the mufflers , fab some headers, use higher flow cats, match port the heads to the intake and exhaust manifold and I bet ya could up the ponies by 3 to 5 % easily. If the ecm does its job properly, freeing up the exhaust shouldnt cause a lean fuel mixture so waddaya got to lose.

Oh , as prev responder indicated, ripping out the 10 tons of extra creature comforts and shrouding and what not cannot hurt either.

Yes, the ECU will compensate for AFR to a point. It will add fuel when it sees it leaner and should map that and remember it.

Superchargers and Turbos are always awesome, but the lack of tuning of these engines other than a piggy back means the tune will never be spot on. Just not much market for people to go and dig up what is on them and figure it out. It takes a ton of work and time and then people want to not pay squat for it. So it never gets done.....

Wanna lose weight in the car? Think of 1600 places to lose an ounce.

Are you looking for a kit or looking for a supercharger you can make work? A friend of mine might have a TVS2300. Might be a bit big for a LS400, but is a fantastic blower.

The list of heavy performance mods diminish for the 95+ models from what i understand, because they switched to much lighter connecting rods for more efficiency. Which are fine for the stock motor, but not so much for forced induction.

Same reason Toyota stopped selling the TRD supercharger for the 2UZFE engines. They were nuking connecting rods quite often
