Question Rack and Pinion problem 1995 LS400

Hello everyone.

Has anybody replaced his LS400's rack and pinion? If so can you please share your experience (replacement cost, how you did it? I have just over 200,000 miles on it and about a year ago during oil change I noticed an oil leak on the right side of Rack and Pinion.

I am enclosing a picture that clearly shows the right side of the Rack and Pinion with a leak. Also during the recent oil change the mechanic demonstrated how the left front wheel is movable when he twisted it from left to right.

When the car goes over a bump it makes a weird sound, like something inside rack and pinion is not tight. I have been driving like this for over a year and the last oil change mechanic warned me that it may be dangerous driving with this problem, offering to replace it for $675.

I am in NYC, any recommendation which mechanic charges reasonable price for this repair?

Any help is truly appreciated!
