Default vibration under breaking with wandering

so i have done alot of research and ive come to the conclusion that my problem is strut rod bushings....i just wanted to get a last minute second opinion before i start buying parts cause cash flo is low right now. i have a 94 LS400 with 116,000 miles harsh vibrating under moderate breaking at speeds of 40+ mph, under 40 and the vibrating subsides drastically, it also subsides under hard breaking and very light breaking at any speed. also some nice clunking over small bumps with a bit of wandering on the freeway! any thoughts please let me know....

also i have lifted it up and there is no play in the wheels up and down or left and right.....so that leads me to believe its not ball joints or tie rods!!

How's your alignment and tire wear/condition? If not your strut bushings, it could be the bearings. On many cars you can inspect the age and condition of your bushings from above, and just see if they look old & cracked, dry-rotted, or even just shrunk down below their original size.

Have you lifted the car to see if there is wheel play on either side? Try that to ensure it's not a worn out wheel bearing. The last possibility I can think of is going to be warped rotor, but that should be felt through your steering wheel more than of these other possible problems.

Would the bearings cause the clunk noise on bumps? Yes I lifted it and felt no play in any direction, I also saw now visual wear on the strut bushings...

the vibration sounds like warped rotors honestly, have you checked them out? I know ive read the clunking problem described in other threads, i would suggest searching on that topic in these forums (if you haven't already) its a very powerful aid.

sounds like rotors. strut rod bushings dont show wear unless you torque the suspension with a pry bar then you'll see the cracks.
