Underbody inspection for beginners??
Hello,
I will have a 2000 LS400 up on a lift to inspect.
But aside from obvious leaks, rust and broken parts, what should I be looking for?
As an example, are there parts that I should try to wiggle etc? Any less obvious things to inspect?
Many thanks in advance my friends!

cheak for all leaks. Check the fuel lines running down the vehicle. And just check everything that bold to something else. Check tie rod ends from the steering rack and connecting to the wheels. Just look for dry and cracked rubber and dark grease

the front lower bushings (sometimes called strut rod bushings) are typical culprits of thuds/clunks while driving, and also bad alignments.
check for uneven tire wear.
grab all the suspension arms and pull side to side and look at the bushings for any tears or splits.
look at the front lower ball joints for leaks or slack (need to grab the front wheel/tire firmly).
check the transmission mount which is usually toast at 100k miles anyway (usually the rubber is completely separated from the mount).

Scrapes and gouges and dents, mickey moused anything etc. Weeds from flying off the road, bent suspension parts, missing paint or under coating bent exhaust, loose drive line components, transmission levers loose?
