the tail lamp failure doesnt need a reset, go recheck ALL the tail lights (and parking lights).

Vincent, that's because the LED bulb draws less power than a normal halogen bulb. Either add a resistor or remove the brake light failure indicator bulb if it bothers you too much.

you can get a gates belt kit here, I use their parts...
http://www.store.partsdinosaur.com/page247.html

just request the gates belt when you order.

my 99 light went out when I replaced the bulb, and you can disconnect the neg battery cable for a few minutes to kill the CEL. if it comes back on, check your codes.

Default Bulb resistance

I thought I read in an earlier thread that there were two different type bulbs that appeared identical but had different reistances, with different part #s. I thought the correct bulb for our cars had an 'L' at the end to denote low resistance. But when I replaced mine the warning message cleared itself the first time I cranked it up.

The tail lamp failure indicator is a common problem on toyota and lexus vehicles. I hear about it all the time. I once fixed the issue in a camry by replacing third-party bulbs with ones that I purchased from the dealer. You might also want to clean out the bulb sockets with tuner cleaner in case there is any corrosion that might be adding resistance and triggering the indicator to go on.

For the T-belt kit, rockauto.com has a Gates kit for $166 which includes belt, tensioner, both idler bearings, and water pump/with gasket. The cam and crankshaft seals are cheap also. That's where I got mine from, quick shipping.

the LS400 light failure module is not a common problem like on some earlier toyotas.

i think that wanderson and 91LS400vgb are right because i checked the sockets and i think that the bulbs i bought from auto-zone weren't exactly the same type of bulbs they had different part numbers and i also tried the negative battery cables plus thanks billydpowe i bought the timing belt kit with the gates belt yesterday and it should come in soon. thanks guys i think im going to go to the dealer and order the right light bulbs and then have them remove the check engine light because i already changed the o2 sensors. thanks again everybody.

I don't know which T-belt kit you bought but the one that billydpowe listed doesn't include the water pump or the hydrolic tensioner. Those 2 things should also be changed along with the seals.

tail light failure sensor depends on resistance of the bulb, so you must use the right bulb for it to work. If all the bulb come on and you still get the warning light, try to test for continuity. Pull the 16-pin wire harness from the sensor(Remove the trunk covers the sensor will be close to the trunk door shocks, i think its in the red box) Using the bulb as a ground test all pins, if you get continuity in all pins except for number 1, then the sensor is bad. If you dont get continuity in more than number 1 then there is problem with the wire, connectors, or bulb.

The warning tail light failure light is very sensitive, if you have already change the bulbs and its the factory specs ones, most of the time the connectors are rusted or corroded i would clean or just replace them. If u put after market led light on the the resistace are different it will always light on. the way the signal picks up is when the resistance are different.

About the O2 sensors. after you completed the work needed if you dont have a scan tool then you can disconnect the negative batt cable for about one minute. if that doesnt work u can discharge your whole car power buy disconnecting the pos. and neg. cables and rub them together for about a minute . better yet the big parts store can clear and also see if u have any pending codes for free .. hope that help anything else just let me know

ps dont go to the dealer they will rip u off. and no u dont need the dealers bulb its probably your sockets had bad connection.
