Power Window Auto Down
OK, I am slowly getting things fixed on my LS, Many thanks to all the help for you guys. Now i would like to get the Auto down function for the drivers window to work. I searched and did not find much on this, but it seems that this ****tion id controlled by an ECU in the drivers door, and the the switch has nothing to do with it. I thought there was a kind of click in the door switch when it was fully depressed, which engaged the Auto Down, am i wrong here. Any Ideas on how to diagnose this?

Well you didn’t say what your switch is doing or not doing. The “one-touch” operation is controlled by mechanical and electrical components located in the master switch. The driver’s window switch has two sets of points - one for up and one for down operation. The switch has mechanisms that operate the points. When you press the switch lightly for a down window command, you activate the manual mechanism which closes the down points and the motor operates. When you activate the one-touch feature (by pressing the switch all the way down), you activate a plunger mechanism which closes the points and turns on a coil (that holds the points closed) and a comparator circuit. The comparator looks at the current in the circuit. When the window is going down, gravity is helping and the current is something like 7 amps. When the window reaches the full down position, the amperage rises to something like 14.5 amps. When the comparator sees the higher current, it releases the coil which opens the points which turns off the motor.
So in order for the one-touch feature to work properly, you need to have all of these finely engineered components talking to each other properly. There is a full set of troubleshooting steps in the RM.
