Your question is extremely confusing!!!!!
I assume it is a question even though I don't see a question mark.

Is the factory radio/head unit and cd changer still in the car?
Is the head unit and amp still in the car and you removed the changer?
Or neither cause you put a new system in?
If its still in the car and hooked up then load a cd in to see if it works.. lol

If the cd changer wasn't working a year ago then unless you fixed it I see no reason why it would magically start working today.

Please clarify yourself so we can help.

Question

my bad sharp. when my dad bought my ls from the auction it came with a deck with a cd player, so i never bothered with the cd changer in the trunk. i thought it would be more inconvenient to use it. now i'm wondering if the thing even works. i push the open button, and nothing happens, i'm guessing that theres no power running to it. but i'm not sure because i don't know how to release the changer. so i guess i'm asking:

how can i detach the stock cd changer?

once i get it off. i'll post another question.
thanks.

You have to remove the panels by the cd changer in the trunk area to get to the bracket and the wires.
