I think my Heater core is out on my 02 IS300 also. By reading your post, and looking under my dash, I might have another solution. And lets see if you might agree.
Take off the glove box. Cut the heater core supply, and return line about 3-4" from the core, do the same to the new one, and get some heater hose to slide over the top of the lines, slide out the old core, slide in the new core. Couple hose clamps. And Done! :-) What do you think?????

Deanshark, did you get this fully straightened out yet?

I'd like to be fully prepared if I ever have to do this.

Well i had an old pontiac and when that core went it sent coolant into the ducts and out into windows. Kinda fogged them over but was sorta slimy. If my heater core goes so does the car now. The Pontiac was a lot easier to replace than this car will be.

I would like some good pics on how to get lower panel and glove box out with out goofing things up. I have manuals but they are not real specific on how to. Its the same old "remove this or that deal".
