battery charging problem
insufficent current to battery. Battery and alternator checked out OK. I have cleaned both the plug in on alternator and battery connectors. I noticied thaT there was no ground wire on the alternator. My other cars have always had a BLACK GROUN WIRE. Should the '92 LS 400 alternator have a gound wire? I need to know pronto- since I need to re-install alterntaor in moring
before the bottom falls out on the temp. Thanks!

You absolutely should have a ground wire. I sure hope Lexus is not counting on the alternator bolts to ground the unit.
Are you 100% certain you have no ground wire?
Lets back up a bit. What are the main symptoms?

Billy: I am only recording 11.72 volts on my voltmeter at the battery when I do a check with the motor running. Autozone checked both my alternator and my battery- both checked out OK. [I] re-installed the alternator and added a ground wire as per your suggestion. No change. Note the maint that I did in my original post above. Is it possible for the alternator to have a bad voltage regulator when the alternator checks out OK?
