Default Disc retaining bolts

Hi,
The retaining bolts/screws are crosshead type countersunk, depending how long they have been in you may be able to remove with a normal screwdriver, impact driver or in really bad cases drill them out.
Giving them a good soaking of WD40 the day before will help.
If you need replacements a good machine shop should be able to supply but even from Lexus they cost around $2.00 each.
Part # 90155-60002.

Mine stripped a long time ago and I just decided no ignore them.

Really though, are these considered necessary or is there some serious added benefit to having them on?

I don't think they're necessary... Just one of those attention to detail items that they put on the car. Many cars don't have them. All of mine were broken off when I got the car. I drilled them out, removed them with any easy-out and replaced all of them.

Here's another thread on the subject https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...oise-95-a.html

I have been running without these screws since replacing my front rotors years ago.

This is what I use. The screws are actually Japanese and not a regular phillips but with this impact and a #2 phillips, the screws will come right out without stripping them.
