Default Acura vs. Lexus

I saw a maxima thread talkin about the performance of the two vehicles.....but i was more interested in acura.....around here a lot of people are pretty cocky with there acuras.....they buy a TL and think its tha fastest car in the world.......esp the type s with 260 hp......i was just curious how good performance wise these cars were.....specifically the TL and RSX.....i personally dislike them b/c they are after all honda.....and front wheel drive kant drift.......and drifting shows real race talent, not if yer car can do a 1/4 mile in 9 seconds......

RSX has 200hp and o-60 is 6.3
TL type S is 0-60 in 6.3 also and has 260 hp.

i forget the qms but theyre simialar.

Theyre not the fastest cars, but they are particularly fast, and can beat most LSs up untill the fourth- there it would be a real race.

I'm pretty sure they can beat the LS on the lower end but at the high end (after 60-80mph), the LS should be able to just pull away (may be 1/2-1 car)

I dont think so... this was the same conversation with the maxima and the ls... i dont think the ls can pull after a tl type s,,, and mayb, just maybe the rsx, but i highly doubt it...

but i know for sure the TL will stay away from the LSs.... it has more hp and weighs less.

I think you are right....after checking the specification on the TL....they should be able to beat the LSs from the beginning

yeah thats kinda what i thought......i mean the TL curb weight is like 3500 i think and so if they hav enuf HP then they can definitely pull ahead of or LSs.....my friend has a new TL (not type s) and whats to see how they par up.......maybe i'll try.....but i dont wanna waste gas (now that the price keeps climbing!) on something i know i cant win.......

Kizouku, there's no WAY you're gunna take him off the line in your 91 vs his new TL.

Im pretty sure the LS can take the Type-S at 90mph on because even the current GS 300's with 225 hp can take the Type-S. But of course from a stop its the Type-S all the way.

Here is what happen when (GS_400 Pusher) testing a Type-S racing with his brother's 1995 LS 400, granted that the 2nd gen LS is just a little quicker than the 1st gen LS 400.

Like I said, at a stop no chance, high speed chance.

The only reason I don't like the TL is Front wheel drive. The LS look better all around including the inside.

TL-S is a very swift car indeed, here are some facts.

260hp, 232 lbs torque
Shares 45% of it's parts with Accord.
Designed in California, built in Ohio.
5 speed, last 2 gears are OVERDRIVE so over 80 mph you can catch this car (if driver does not hold gears with Sport shift).
0-60 from 6.2 to 7 sec. 1/4 mile in high 15s.
THey make headers that add (supposedly) 30hp.

This car is very swift off the line (even in standard form) but at freeway speeds it sucks. For the price a very good buy.

Also the car has serious tranny problems no one can figure out.

What is your source for the car being sucky on the freeway??? You really think the first and second gen. ls look better than the TL Type-S?

5 gears which the type-s has, 4th and 5th are OD gears which only make it very good gas efficiency

I believe the 2002 models became a six-speed the pre 2002 Type-S's were five speeds.
