Question on upper control arms Gen 2 vs Gen 1
Replacing upper control arms on my '97 LS.
I ordered a pair on ebay not too long ago that were for the 95-00 series, they had part numbers 4861059015 (for right) and 4863059015 (for left) on the ebay auction and on the packaging. These numbers match with my alldatadiy reference as well as the fiche on sewellpartsonline.
Pulled the old UCAs off today and visually matched them against the ebay UCAs. First difference is that the steel wishbone (itself) on the ebay items is thinner than the wishbone on the UCAs that I pulled from my car.
The second difference is that the balljoint on the ebay UCAs locates at a slightly different point than on the old arms. On the new arms it falls about 1/4 in back and 1/4 in out from the UCAs that I pulled off the vehicle.
Seems that this would affect my caster and camber, unless this difference is correctable with alignment adjustments.
My mother-in-law has a 94 LS and I looked at her UCAs, they seem to have the thinner wishbone metal and more similar to the ones that I got on ebay.
I went to sewellpartsonline and looked up part numbers for UCAs for 94 and 97, they seem to have the same part number. Then I went to lexuspartsonline and while their database doesn't reveal part numbers, it does list a 94 UCA different from a 97 UCA, different prices at least.
Has anyone run into this and know if what I have will be usable on my 97?
Thanks
