Default LED's in tails.

Ok, ive got the r/c/r tails from ebay on my car. The red bulb that came with them glows to a pink color at night. I dont like that. So i was just wondering if i can replace the red 7443 that is in the center clear section of the tails with an LED bulb? If i do this will the bulb out indicator on the dash come on? If so, then what do i have to do to make them work?

From what I hear, they aren't bright enough and will be barely visible during the day, and much dimmer than your stock halogen bulbs at night.

+1+1+1 i tried them too. you would also need to get the transistor/resistor that turns off the warning indication light

I have them and had the same issue with the red glass fading. I have not tried LED's yet. The last set of red bulbs from AutoZone have lasted 6 months and still glow red. If you try the LED's let me know how they work.

ok guys heres some info for ya. i run all clear tails and heres the problem i have seen. When you buy led tail bulbs. you have to make sure that there are leds on the end as well as the SIDE of the bulb.

Because the way our tails are desiged and the way the bulb sits in place it makes the bulb sorta directional so if you get a led bulb with only leds on the end it lights up on 1/2 of the tail light . This is atleast true on the gen 1s.

Its useless to have LED in a non-clear housing. Leds are only bright when looked at directly, because they are small, concentrated sources of light, but they dont produce much light output, so when you have them in a non clear housing it will just look dim, and almost invisible during the day.

my dad has these in his r/c/r taillights and they light up red when braking. when we first bought the tail lights, and used the red bulb included, it was somewhat red for the first couple days, then eventually, the heat melted the red off and it became pink. so i looked into these for him and these actually light up red wide angle.
