Ls400 audio setup thread (The Mother thread)
Alrighty so I read through this whole thread and have a few things I'm still foggy on. I have a 93 LS400 with the Nakamichi sound system with blown speakers. I have a Pioneer double din, Kicker 12" sub and a Kicker amp that I'm gonna have installed when I have my alarm done. I wanna try to cut costs though so I want to do the speakers myself. I'm just gonna go with some factory 4" sized ones to keep it simple. Do I need to bypass the factory speaker amp? How do I do that/where is it? Is there a separate amp for the factory sub? Where is that? I wanna take out the factory sub and amps if they aren't necessary/to improve sound quality from my Kicker 12" that's going in the trunk. And what color wires are power/ground in the factory speaker wiring? Thanks for the help guys.
PD I need a little help, the 99 I just bought has something bouncing around in the speaker by the back glass.... how do you take the "cover" off, I have tried lightly prizing up and pulling it. do I have to go thru the trunk to get to it??? I tried to find a thread on it.... billyD

I JUST POPED IT OFF, RE-GLUED THE CENTER CONE BACK ON, FIXED, thanks a million guys..

No problem, I actually took mine off recently since I'm doing some work on my car to bring it back up to spec. I have all the the seats, carpet and trim panels out of the car. I was scared I was going to break something when popping it off.
your photos didnt show up, but I think he had a 1st gen, this is a 99 model from the Dallas area, Sold new at Sewell. I am 3rd owner. Sewell & Park Place serviced this one from 0 to 168k. then 2nd owner used local mechanic for brakes, struts, bushings & stuff?. I will DIY.
After reading a lot of postings I cannot find one that really answers my problem. Please excuse me if a) I upset anyone because there is a thread out there that I missed, and b) if I ask a real simple (stupid) question.
I have a 1993 LS400 with the Nakamichi amp.
Over the last few years the sound from my speakers have diminish to the point that I can hardly hear them. I had a audio car store take a look and they said the speakers are fine it was probably a bad amp. Of course they wanted to sell me a new amp, head, speakers, etc.
So I found a Nakamichi amp on Ebay and installed it. Speakers volume is still the same. So does this mean I need new speakers after all or is there a head issue?
I cannot send back the amp I got off Ebay, so if anyone needs one, both of the ones I have work so I'll sell one.
Thanks.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/sad.gif

Thanks Yamae!
the reason I ask, is that for the price of that silly Beatsonic box, I can get a nicer sub and a separate amp for it, for my new head unit, and not pay more for some magic black box than my new CD stereo costs!

The Beatsonic box is more than the price of the DVD/ CD / CD-R deck which I have installed. I found it silly to buy and use the box. What I did was just to buy the cable below and connected to the JDM navi unit.

The close view of the deck and how it is installed are like these below.

Spending less than 1/3 of the money to buy a Beatsonic box, I now can enjoy MP3 music longer than 10 hours without any interruption. The only interruption is caused by me to take a rest or to eat. I also can enjoy videos too.
