I don't know where esle to post this, but since I have an LS I'll post here.

Does just changing the tips on the exhaust make any difference in sound? If not what are some possible ways to get a more 'throaty' V8 sound?

 

That alone will not change the sound - just the looks. If you want more of the V8 sound, new mufflers are a must and I would suggest taking off the resinators. I have been happy with the Magnaflows. I added the thread if you want to see the look.

why would you wanna a sound on a LS, it's not a race car like a mustang, it's a luxury car, put some nice tips on it, the noise wouldn't make it a nice luxury car...just my opinion

 

ok number one a lexus is not a mustang. i have after market mufflers and took off one of the resonators and put 2 1/4" cat back going to do the other one when i get more money, and it sounds great it's a nice low deep sound, not a motor boat sound that a mustang has. and if you see that BMW has M power, BENZ has AMG, and now lexus is doing L-Tuning thats in house mods, lux cars are the new rave. look in the new import mags and see more and more BMW's BENZ's LEXUS's are being mod not just more HONDA and ACURA and those line of cars.

 

Exhausts on luxury cars to me are a different and cool idea. I saw a BMW X.5 with some super exhaust on it that made it loud as hell and sounded like a hot rod. Personally I would like to get a more throaty deep noise for my LS.
