I feel like a moron for asking this question, but I believe the battery has died on my 1994 LS 400 sedan. Problem is, it's parked in my garage, and when I try to shift the gear to neutral to roll it out for a jump, the gear won't shift, it almost seems as though it's locked somehow.
Any help on how to "unlock" or shift the gear to neutral is greatly appreciated.
No big deal man. There should be a button Above the PRND that overrides the shift lock. When you press it, hold it and shift the shifter normally. I'm not good at explaining. sorry. If thats not clear just PM me.
I had similar problem yesterday after work. Onwer's manual instructed prying open the small plastic( on the left side the gear shifter, which looks like a small key can fit into) with flat head screw driver. Engage the emergency brakes, trun the ignition to off position. With the screw driver, push down "hard" on the white or clear inside the hole [ you see after prying open the black plastic ]. While pushing, pull the gear shifter { need to step on the breaks too } back. It should go to neutral or drive at that stage. Now all should be back to nomal according to the owner's manual. The manual advice is to visit Lexus dealer for service after this operation. IS THIS NECCESSARY? I need to know. Anybody's opinion will help my decision.
