Hi everyone,

I have a 93 Ls. For the last couple months, my fuel gauge no longer records the correct amount in the fuel tank. Even with a full tank, the needle shows only a little more than half full. I now have to look/check at the trip odo. for gas refill. Is there anything I can buy and replace myself or this is another dealer service item? Thanks.

Probably gunna have to go to the dealer. The gas tank is right behind the rear seats.

I would open the trunk and peel of the plastic cover behind the rear seats. You will see this alot of metal behind this plastic sheet. Then there should be a wire that is connected to a round gold plate in the center near the middle and then check it all the connections are not lose or anything.

That is all I could think off.

Could you please explain why the fuel pump have this effect on the fuel gauge? On another note, I notice (once in a while) some kind of hesitation when I try to accelerate... The hesitation is more obvious in low speed (30 - 40 mph). Could this have to do with weak fuel pressure?

The usual cause of this hesitation is the "learning" transmission. The transmission ECU tracks your driving habbits and adjusts to them. If you drive slow, it will learn to accelerate slower. To fix that you need to reset the tranny ECU and drive your car hard in "Power/ECT" mode. So with the flip of that switch, thecar willknow when you want to drive sporty.

Ooppss... I think that I misunderstood... My friend's LS400 had the gauge stock in half tank. He didn't know when he was going to run out of gas. He told me that it didn't work so I gave some good punches to the gas tank... somehow the gas pump started working again, but a mechanic have already told him that it was gonna be $200. I was thinking that your "gauge" didn't work at all..... sorry !

Gauge Problems
My 94 LS has the same problem. The gauge will slowly go to just above a 1/2 a tank when it is topped off. I was kind of hoping for a better solution than just beating on the tank, but don't get me wrong, I'll give it a shot. Thanks,
