Default K&N drop-in filter

Since Amsoil don't make a filter for LS400. I ordered a K&N drop-in filter (drop-in replacement to stock). Since it's not a filterCharger, I wonder how much performance increase I should expect. Or I should hear the engine sounds differently.

With a drop in filter the gains in power will be very small.

In such a big car I think you will not notice.

Red face Why use it then?

If no noticeable effect, why use it? How about gas mileage effect?

Well, all K&N filters have a million mile warranty and if cleaned and oiled correctly they will last you the lifetime of the car.
In other words, in the long run they are cheaper and better quality than stock.
If you want power, use an open filter. However this will make a lot more noise.

I put the K&N in my LS400 and it doesn't make a lot of difference at normal driving, but when I stomp on it and the engine gulps for air I can tell the difference.

I think it's less restrictive and at higher intake volumes ou'll notice a difference.
