There was a thread posted by “spinout180” detailing how to modify the fogs to operate freely of the headlights for the '95 LS. Tried it, spent 6 hours trying to get it right, with no go. (The poster was very helpful, very nice guy)

Lexus changed the way the headlights are wired up in 98 (I’m guessing for HID's maybe?) So anyhow, I followed bannanaGS's instructions for the GS, and it was all the same except, the wire color was different for the LS. (That took a wire to figure out.). THANKS Banana GS. In Banana's GS tutorial, the fog light wire is green with a white stripe, for the LS is RED/BLUE.

NOTE: the fuse box is slightly different for the LS, here is a pic, thanks to “spinout180”:



You can configure them to operate whenever the ignition is ON by tapping into the wiper motor fuse for example, or use the tail light fuse if you want them to operate when the parking lights are on (that what I did).

Car looks sick at night!! Will post pics when I get some new batteries later tonight or tomorrow. It’s a must have mod for all 98-2000 LS’s!

I think I’m the only 98-00 LS owner with the fog light mod here.

Of course, these are to be used during late afternoon or when waiting in a parking light at night, but not for night driving.

You mean of the fuse box? the fuse box is exactly the same as the 95-97's LS. The one posted above.

NOTE: Your going to be seeing it mirror view when you pull it out, so dont let the picture trick you. So when you pull the fuse box down, its going to be the first relay on the left.

 

No I meant what the results ended up looking like. I'm thinking of what they may look like. Does it basically look like what Lexkost did to his 96?

 

Just imagine your LS's parking lights + fog lights. You know what? for you, I'll use the batteries in my wireless mouse, go outside and take some pics

For the fogs to turn on, your headlights MUST be on. This mod will free you of that obligation, so you can set it so the fogs will turn on simply with the parking lights, or even separate their operation from the exterior lighting period, depending on which fuse you wire the relay too.

Right now, yours are set to turn on ONLY when the MAIN headlights (HID's) are on. Go ahead and try to turn off your headlights, your fogs will go off as well. I’m trying to AVOID that by letting them stay on with the parking lights ONLY. Its purely for looks, so if you don’t even use the fogs, or care for them, then this mod wouldn’t interest you.

out of all the Luxury cars, Lexus is the ONLY one that obligates you to turn your headlights on for the fogs to operate.
