My name is Armando and I'm from SoCal. I was recently a victim of a vehicle theft (custom built '02 Ford Lightning show truck). As a result of the theft, my father-in-law gave me his '92 LS400 with 49K original miles. The car has only been driven 10 miles a week for the past 7 years, but was taken in for oil changes every 3-5 months (regularly prior to that).
I was going to take it in to a Lexus dealership for a complete check-up but instead decided to take it down to a friends Toyota/Lexus shop for the following services:
1) oil change/service
2) tranny oil change/service
3) radiator flush/service
4) inspect all hoses and belts to make sure they're not bad/rotting
5) inspect all seals
I know it needs new brakes, but I'm taking it to Midas or Meineke since they offer a lifetime warranty.
Is there anything else you guys would recommend? I've read through the manuals, but was curious to know if there is anything else I've missed? Thanks

WELCOME TO CL!
Your 02' cant be an LS400, since they changed to LS430 in '01 and cant be 7 years either. I suggest you get OEM pads for your LS, I find them to have low dust, high quality and great stopping power. Those types of store chains usually give you the cheapest pads in the market to maximize profits.
Take a look around the fourm, there is lots of info to be consumed.
Good luck.

Welcome to CL
Sorry to hear about your truck.
Where in CA are you located? There are plenty of us and we may be able to recco a trusted shop to take your car for service. I'd be cautious of the big chain stores. "Lifetime" warranties to me mean it is going to break sooner than expected and you will be back in to have it fixed. I've been through a good share of "lifetime" parts and in my instance they cause more headache and cost more than an OEM part from the dealer.
The brakes on your LS are a ceramic pad material. The OEM pads from the dealer are probably the best recommended, no dust and minimal rotor wear.

I'm sorry. I made a mistake. It's a '92.
Thanks guys. I live in Bellflower. What are your shop recommendations? Any other recommendations in regards to servicing it after being in the garage for such a long time?
Also, I'm interested in replacing the gold emblems to make it look newer. Any ideas on where I could pick up a set?
Thanks again.

You were right, you said you got a 92 in your first post, he must have mistaken your 02 ford for a 02 LS. Oh well. If you take it to the dealership have you electrical system checked out also. Just a thought.

Yeah, it was edit afterwards.
Well, I just got back from the shop. The guy said the fluids are clean...not need to service anything at this point.
I guess I'm good to go. I'm having a light tint installed, a replacement head unit and disk changer, and picking up some replacement good emblems to make the car "bling."
Anybody swap out the stock head unit for a replacement?

The paint has some light surface scratches and swirls and the interior needs to be shampooed. No dents, no rips. I'm dropping it off at the detailer's tomorrow morning for a complete detail. The only thing that was not dirty is the motor.
For the SoCal guys, I guess Luxury Motorwurks is the place to get your Lexus serviced, so I'm going to ignore what the shop I just went to told me and heading over to Luxury Motorwurks for an oil change. They seem to be Lexus specialists.
This Saturday I'll get the tint and stereo and I should be on my way.
I believe it has the air ride. Coming from a Mustang road-racing background and most recently a Lightning show truck, I'm really digging the ride!
Here are pics of my most recent rides:
The Lightning- featured in DUB magazine, Truckin' Mag, Ford Truck World Magazine, and various vendor booths:
