Default Difference between 1992 and 1993 LS400

Hi everyone,

New to Lexus forum, never owned (or driven) a Lexus before. Thought long and hard whether to get a used LS400 or a new 'affordable' car (Mazda, Honda). Decided on the LS after doing tons of research; it's reliable, luxurious, and timeless in it's design. I think it will still look good 20 years from now.

Looks like I'll be getting a '93 this weekend - 130k and absolutely mint condition inside and out.
I know the 93's had the bigger tires and brakes, and passenger airbags. Any other improvements for this year?

Thanks.

here is what i found...

Larger tires and brakes, Passenger side air bag added, CFC free air conditioning with a pollen filter, Automatic headlamps, styling touch-ups and several interior refinements

here is a review for the 93:

Oh yeah, the cabin filter is behind the glove box. Its about $24 bucs.

IMO, one of the most important improvements for 93 was that the front passenger seat cushion could be adjusted up and down. A lumbar support adjustment was added too. I never could get comfy in the pass seat of my old 90. Also a "beep" was added so you could tell when the keyless entry really did unlock/lock the doors. But the biggest improvement was the larger tires/wheels and larger brakes - made the car feel much more stable at highway speeds and much better braking than the 90-92's with the skinny tires.

There were several, several changes between the two years. Here is everything you can ever imagine about the LS generations courtesy of lexls.com:

Hi and welcome,

I have the same car 93 LS @ 135k. Just few suggestions and issues.

check the suspensions are they air? if yes have they been changed? because mine went out last year......and they are very $$$$..... front ones are about 1000 each and rear ones are about 700 eack so you are looking at 4000 for all 4 + labour. unless you want to change them to springs which will cost you about 1000 or less for all four .

second issue is instrument cluster lights......they dont come on in the cold morning and fuel gage not working + needles half lit. all this can be fixed for about $325 by Jim. he did mine and they work perfectly.

PS pump issue. they all start to give away which is about 1000 - 1500 to fix.

Nak stereo system is third issue..... speakers dont work perfectly and they cost arm and leg if you want to keep OEM.

other than that 93LS is a sweet ride. PM me if you have any more questions.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. 93LS - we have pretty much the exact same car, miles and all! I'm glad you're enjoying yours.
