LS 400 Knocking
I have a 1991 LS 400, that has recently developed a very annoying knocking noise basically when I go over any sort of bump, from a pothole to a pebble it makes a very slight knocking noise. I brought it to my local Lexus dealer and he replaced the front left and right balljoints on the top of the suspension, €1200! Jesus! Anyway it is still making the bloddy noise and it is driving me completely nuts! I got the shocks tested in another Lexus dealership and they said they were working at 85% each which is fine, The noise is coming from the right side only, can anyone help me?
It sounds like something on top of a strut or something, or maybe I am wrong?? Any help would be much appreciacted!Mark.

Certainly a worn bushing, they are only supposed to last some years. To find it out have a budy push and release on the hood or any place that provokes the noise while you look under it. Possible places are the anti-roll bar and the shocks. Bot other places are possible too. Once you have nailled it's little foots down you can order replacement bushings from the US. Or try to get some from the UK.

Definitely sounds like a worn bushing on the control arm....a common problem that arises over time on our LS400s. It could also be the front strut bar as RA40 mentioned, but I'm guessing it's most likely your control arm bushing that's worn out.
