Well I dropped my 93 LS off last week because it was sputtering when I was accelerating on the highway like when you get on the gas a little to pass a car.
They sent it back saying that it needed a new TPS and the battery had a dead cell in it. So I got them to fix it. Well 2 hours after picking it up it was giving me the same problem.
When I would get on the gas kind of hard but not to the floor it is acting as if it is getting no gas. I let of the gas a little and ease back into and it runs fine. So I called and sent it back to the dealership and now they are telling me they are 90% sure that the Engine ECU is bad and it will cost $900+ dollars for a replacement refurb. New it cost $2,300.
I really would like to get some input from you guys on what you think about this. Does it sound right? Could it be something else? Know where I can buy an ECU cheaper? They said they had no luck with rebuilt ones so they recommend a new one??
Part number 89611-50141-84 supposdly the -84 means refurb.
Thanks for all your help. If I can't find an alternative I may have to put this old dog to rest for $2,300 and that will not make for a merry christmas.
