Default 95 LS400 Engine Pulsing?

Hey guys,

This is my first post - my 95 LS is starting to pulse/vibrate and the engine light is on and blinking so I took it to the cerritos dealership and they me quoted 16,000 to fix. I feel like i'm getting ripped off big time - you guys know any other mechanics/shops?

Regards,
Michael

Welcome to CL!!!

What...they quoted you $16,000.00 to fix it? YES your getting ripped off, the cars not worth that much to begin with. j/k

I think you mean $1,600.00 and yes I'd say it's still way too much.
Try to find an independent shop to do the work for you.

Are you serious? $16,000.00? Wow
Ok, check you "Private Messages" under the "Tools" header. I sent you info on a private shop you might want to use.

Did the guys at Cerritos tell you what they thought were the problems with your car when the quoted $16000? Post the problem list of you have it.

Hey Jasonmo,

It sounds like you and I share the same problem, maybe i'll try taking my car to another dealership and have them take a look at it. I hafnt had a chance to take my car to any shops yet.

Thanks to all you guys for the quick replies.

Regards,
Michael

Default $16,000 repair job

Dude, call BBB right away. No repair could cost that much, unless you're completely rebuilding a classic car. There is no such thing. It might just need a comprehensive service (plugs/wires/oxygen sensor/electrical wiring, etc that should not cost you more than $800. If you have a grand to spare on that repair I would safely direct you to Joe at United Auto in Glendale (818) 242 7887 (he is working on my 1991 LS and has saved me a bunch of money). The good thing with him is that he won't do anything you haven't authorized him to do. And he is honest. When I bought the car I thought I would pay $400 for the power steering pump and hose, which were leaking and making this loud whining sound. Joe found the leak, used a part from a Camry that was identical and charged me $100. It worked great! Before you spend more than $1000 on anything on your car, let Joe give you his opinion. Tell him that Daniel sent you.
