Default one or two idler pulleys?

I've been told to replace my idler pulley by my mechanic. I'm ordering the parts off the net. I have a question.

If I look at www.oemwholesale.com, they quote a left and right idler pulley. If I look at www.lexus-parts.com, they list one idler pulley (no left or right specified).

Can someone help explain whether my 92 LS400 has one or two idler pulleys?

Thanks!

Hi! I just replaced the idlers on my 91LS.There is one idler pulley and one pulley on the timing belt tensioner. That must be what they mean by left and right?
I did my water pump while i was in there as the bearing had failed in that along with new timing belt.
Good as new!

If you are referring to the drivebelt. There is a tensioner pulley and idler pulley. The tensioner pulley usually fail all the time.

Default Drivebelt?

Just to be clear.

I know that the serpentine Belt has a tensioner and an idler pulley , correct? Is this also called the "drivebelt"?

Does a timing belt also have a seperate tensioner & pulley system?

Note to self:

Yes! Timing Belt Pulleys are seperate systems & out of sight until TB covers & etc. are removed.
These are somewhat internal engine components, unvieweable until dismantling the outer cover of a 1 UZFE.

Timing belt has idler and tensioner pulleys. If I remember correctly, the right pulley is the tension and the left is the idler. Serpentine belt also has idler and tensioner pulleys.

this pic i took when i did my timing belt. The reason the timing belt failed was because the water pump bearing siezed.so i replaced t/belt,water pump, both idlers.the left hand idler is the timing belt tensioner.hope this helps.

Timing belt tensioner is the left pulley if looking at the engine as in the pic, but the correct view is the right or passenger side.
