Default Who has the lowest mileage 1st generation LS 400?

Year 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1994.

I'll start: 1994 with 44,000 miles - not a garage queen but my trips are spread between it and the Miata (still street-legal) and my commute is only 6 miles roundtrip.

3000 miles is insanely low!!! So you don't drive more than 270 miles a year on average ? 3K is going to be tough to beat.

WHAT???!!! what do you mean 3000 miles?? you need to explain this That's just crazy! Has the car been driven regularly or it's been sitting for long and extended periods of time without being started or driven? what's the deal? let us know why so low? are you the first owner (lol, better be)? and also, if you can, pleaes send sme pictures from both exteriors and especially the interior of that car...

By the way, my 1991 has now 79K miles, bought it with 70K from first owner, elderly couple down in Florida.

1992 LS, black with gray leather, 31000 miles. Little old lady car that I got a year ago, when it only had 27000 miles.

1. Yes, original owner.
2. Not driven regulary; sitting for long and extended period of time, but started twice a month.
3. Last driven in August 2002 to smog inspection station to renew registration. Oh, and it did "pass."
4. Low miles cause I prefer driving my pickup truck. Hard to believe, but true.
5. Will need to take photos and will be happy to post once I figure out how to do it.
6. Interior still has the "new car smell."
7. Yes, you are right, it's just crazy!!!

That is unbelievable. You have a car that sits in your garage for >1 yr (last driven 08/2002) without driving it. What's the point ? To fess up, altho' my car doesn't qualify for this thread, but my '99 has 75K miles. That is putting the car to its intended use, imo.

Letting a car set - even indoors takes a toll on ANY car. Even "starting" it twice a month is not sufficient for the car. The brakes need to be used, all of the other componets, such as electrical, A/C, etc. Also the transmission needs to shift through all gears and have good fluid flow through the system. When not used- the seals dry out- in the engine and transmission. I would imagine that by now- or soon- within a few years- if you were to drive the car on a long trip- or regularly- it may develop leaks, or experience brake and/or transmission problems. It also did not ever really reach its "break-in". It also needs to be driven to normal operating temperature. I may be wrong though. I have never heard of a older LS400, just setting with miles that low. It may be just fine- who knows, but I have always heard setting is bad for a car and have seen older cars that have set- go downhill quickly. I have also personally experienced a car going downhill from setting. I have a 89' Pontiac Safari wagon that I bought a few years ago. It was like brand new when I got it. I let it set outdoors for a few months (during winter), as I had two other cars I drove. By the next spring, it had really went downhill mechanically and appearance wise.

Have you considered selling the LS400 since you never drive it? Seems like a waste letting it set and ruin like that.

I agree,
my friend bought a 91LS400 two years ago with only 17K miles from original owner. seemed like an excellent deal since it was garaged all the time and not driven enough. WRONG !
because of the fact, that others mentioned in this post, a car just sitting like that makes it prone to ever more problems than one that is being driven on a regular basis.
My friend had to "believe it" spend $25700 in three years, he showed me receipts to prove it !
Lucky for him when he bought the car, he got the extended warranty as well. and the extended warrranty paid about $25000 for those repairs ! lucky him !
at the end, six months ago the car's engine developed oil leak and he said enough of it. He sold it about two months ago. but the car was nothing but trouble due to the fact that it wasn't being driven enough.
the problems he had was all the way from the tranny to the bushings. you name it the car had it as a problem. a good car should atleast be driven 7 to 8k miles /year imo .
