Default headlight problem

I have HIDs in my car and one side is out i check the connection and its good, i thought it might be the balast or bulb but i switch them to the other side and it works. When I plug the conections in the plug on the side that dont work the bulb jsut flickers and stays off. Anyone know whats going on?

wait, that's weird... what if you keep the ballasts untouched and then changed the bulbs over and see? there gotta be one way to isolate to the ballasts or bulbs. it's hard to imagine somehting else going wrong

Lightbulb

Check your original connector on your headlight. The contacts might be dirty, clean with alcohol or contact cleaner

I second romini's idea--if you switch only the bulbs, you should be able to determine whether the problem lies in the bulb or elsewhere. Cleaning all the connections/contacts on the harnesses is a good idea and if you can, buy some 'dielectric grease' for these connections--you can buy at auto parts store, porbably even Wal-Mart. It's a white pasty conductive substance that the factory usually applies to electrical connections. Also, remember not to handle the glass part of the bulb with your bare skin.

I don't know what contact cleaner is, unless it's the stuff that I have in my eyes. You can always use sand paper or an emery board to remove debris and rust from electrical connectors, just be gentle. If you ever had a slot car set, you know what I'm talking about.

Let us know what happens after you switch the bulbs.

Mike

Default Contact cleaner

This type of contact cleaner you would'nt want to put in your eyes. It's main use is for cleaning electrical parts, connectors, switches, etc. It comes in a sray can and you can buy it at any Radio Shack or electronics supply store.

You've got a loose connection in your wiring. Check all wires and plugs, ex. wires joined together with those plastic connectors.
