I've just ordered from Retrofit Source a pair of LS430 projectors, TSX-R clear lens', D2S Denso Slim ballasts (the full kit with harness and everything), and Osram CBI bulbs.

I don't want to skimp on any aspect of this, I just have a few details I haven't been able to sort out yet:

1. I have a non-HID 2001 GS300 and picked a pair of brand new non-green HID headlamps. Obviously I won't be using the auto-leveling, but anything else I should be concerned about retrofitting and installing these in a non-HID car?

2. This relates to #1: I need to order the bracket kit off of Luxury Mods. I'll choose the LS430 kit of course, but do I choose HID or non-HID? What's the difference in the two kits?

3. This is my first time doing any lighting mod to any car. What's the best way for me to wire these up after the fit and test them before installing in my car?

4. Where can I mount the ballasts that they'll be safe? Should I waterproof them?

5. Anything else I'm overlooking considering this is my first time doing any lighting mod? Should I get some new butyl?

Subscribed. I just received a pair of LS430 projectors as well and am gathering information, too. Here are some tabs I have pinned for reference:

I have a non oem hid car and I put in the oem hid headlights with auto leveling. no issues as long as you have a hid kit. I have an aftermarket hid kit and needed to get an adapter the hook up to the ds2 bulbs and that was it. like 15 bucks from ddmtuning, obviously auto leveling does not work though

Heres my thread, shows some stuff I dont see in other threads:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...s-bracket.html

The difference between the 2 different brackets is the hole for the black plastic clips is different on the bottom one. The one for the autoleveling is slightly bigger than the one for the non HID. The problem will be that it wont fit in the pre-cut hole for it. Both use a a different clip. The nonhid has a round ball that snaps in and the hid one has a flat edge that slides in.

If you notice in this pic, the top 2 are the same and the bottom one is different (for hid) IIRC, all 3 are the same for the non-hid

Thanks for the clarification jokster, looks like I need to get the HID kit then. Your thread has already been a great help in my research. Did you ever get a high beam retro done? I'd definitely be interested a detailed write up of that.

Thanks ahheck and tmf

I definitely would have got these from you, but I had ordered them already as soon as I confirmed which ones I needed. Sorry!

Everything should be here by the weekend. I have way too much to do:

Retrofit project
Valve cover gaskets, cam seals, vvti pulley
Make the woman happy

Wish me luck!
