I installed 8k xtreme hids in my low beams and fogs. The fogs look great, but I noticed while on the road, the lows were creating a weird ovally shadow on the right side on the road. As I pulled into my driveway, my lights shined onto my garage door and I noticed that my right headlight was way lower than my left. I raised the right up to alignment with the left, hoping it would eliminate the problem. This got rid of the shadow but now its making an even worse looking shadow. It looks like a cluster of light fractures. Wish I could explain this better but I have no idea how to post pics.
here is my reflector lens. in good shape too. now i know there will be a slight distortion since i am not using an HID headlamp, but it shouldnt be anywhere near this bad.<br/>
passenger side housing ( notice the base of the bulb is just resting in there. the clip keeps it from falling out but there is still a huge amount of play, as i can basically twist the bulb 360 degrees and tilt it side to side, up and down.
Two things, those HID's look to be junk! Two colors that are way off... [the temps]
I had HID's in my old ES300 and the light was not that distorted [before I bought the HID headlamps].
Second, the problem with the bulbs is that you installed them wrong!
Basically, the H7 bulb has a connector that a normal bulb sits in, which is held in by that metal clip. You say its moving around, well, you didn't substitute the new bulb with the same type of adapter.
Just google H7 hid adapter, or spacer. They make the aftermarket, or... you can be crafty and simply get creative with a hot blade and splice the factory one up.
matt303277: Did the H7 halogen bulbs sit in a adaptor? If so can you provide a picture of them? The pattern may be related to the fact that the bulbs are not sitting in the housing correctly.
This was the adaptor thing attached to my OEM halogen bulb.
And it comes out like this.
So I would plug that adaptor into the HID kit prongs that go into the factory harness and then the other end of the adaptor into the factory harness female end I suppose? The only thing I don't get is where all that extra wire from the HID kit is going to go? would have to go inside the housing or something? And wouldn't that create an even bigger shadow with wires inside the lenses?
hollow out the adaper in between the prongs in the back.... you his light wires will pertrude out the back thru the hollowing out you made...but the adapter will hold the bulb in. with the metal clips. basically just grind it away till there is enough room to pass the his cable through.
Rigging the old adaptors didn't go so well, so I purchased them and lights fit great now. I am still getting a slight shadow but I know I would because I am using reflector lenses. Any tips on how to correctly align headlights? Right now I have the driver side slightly lower to reduce glare and having gotten any people flashing lights at me. But I played around with the horizontal adjustments too and not sure the exact position they should be?

Our bulbs are laser aligned to keep the focal point in the same place as your halogen bulbs. You shouldn't need to make any adjustments. Most headlights will have screws to adjust the horizontal and vertical angle of the lights if you want to make adjustments though.
