Front Dome Light Flicker
Has anyone else noticed their front dome light (map light) flickering while illuminated? You'll notice it while it is dark out. It is not initially very noticeable, but to me I can easily tell b/c I am aware of it. It bothers me.
This happens at idle or at highway speeds. In other words, all the time.

Wow my second post!
LexRX, take the light out and scuff the contacts and/ or the ends of the light itself with sandpaper. It hasn't happened to me, (in the lexus) but it is common for the 'fuse style' lights to do this. It's from making poor contact.

I've seen this happen with headlights also. I'm not so sure it's a contact problem, though it may be in your case. Let me know if that sanding helps any.
I think it can also be caused by voltage drain... do you have any aftermarket equipment on your RX? subwoofer, amp, Xenon bulbs, etc?

The only thing I have is Xenon bulbs which use less wattage anyway - 35 vs. 55. I know that isn't it though b/c it happens when the lights are off and even before I ever had them.
How do I go about accessing the light bulb?

My map, dome and front headlights flicker as long as the engine is running. They don't flicker when engine is not running. I don't believe using sandpaper on the contact point on the bulbs will correct this problem as I have already tried it on the map light without success.

Your headlights too I know my headlights don't flicker.
Maybe an LED domelight will solve the problem. Anyone know of one that will fit in there? I have this URL here, but it doesn't give a bulb replacement number.
According to our handy-dandy RX FAQ, the dome light bulb number is DE3175. Also, let me clarify in case there is any confusion - maybe i'm confused. I'm referring to the map light (which I called dome light) on the sunglass holder/sunroof panel that you can turn on/off with the button opposite the sunroof button.

Hey, my front dome light... the map light... flickers too... I never got around to asking my service advisor to check it though. It's not really that anoying though. The one that annoys me the most is my rear wiper making that god awful sound when wiping.

Yes, the dome light on my '02 RX flickers also. I had them check it at my 1,000 mile oil change and they said it was normal due the the new kind of wiring harness they use. I thought they were blowing me off, but I noticed it on 4 different RX loaners I had over the past year. Yes it does happen on all of them, but I think it's still something that shouldn't happen on a $40K vehicle. By the way, it does only flicker when the engine is running and I can also see the flicker in the license plate lamps (I don't see it in the headlights because they're HID's). Hope that helps.

Get some PIAA Silicone wipers and be done with the squeeking.
