Question Increasing Headlight "Throw"?

I've been noticing for a while now, that my lows and my highs don't put out that much light anymore distance wise. I'm running on the factory HID's and replacement OEM highs. I'm planning on upgrading to 3000k Fogs and POSSIBLY 3000k highs, although I'm not sure about the constant "on off" as I use them quite frequently.

On a side note, I had the opportunity to drive my father's BMW 535 for a week and I love the output and throw that the factory projectors and HID combo delivers. Seems like the road just becomes extremely lit up.

I've done a little digging and know that the eBay projectors don't work PnP for the factory HID system nor would I want to put them on my car. So, what options do I have short of a full retrofit?

Retrofit or nothing. There's no way an HID reflector setup can have more output than a HID projector. HID fogs will not help much since they're are pointed at the ground. They're mostly for looks.

As crispy said, retrofit projectors with more throw.

Reflectors will usually never have the same kind of throw as aspheric optic lens. The lens act as a magnifying glass where as the reflector will just reflect light off as far as it gets.

There are two way you can improve throw 1) retrofit or 2) increase the light intensity, which means you'll have to get higher powering HID ballast/bulbs. I'd go with the former as it proves to be more efficient. Plus they look cool

retrofitting would be your best bet!

Why not do both? I did.

Carlos, this will be your favorite mod, I promise!

While you are deciding what path to take, try this suggestion.

Pay a friendly visit to your local Lexus dealership, and test drive a 2003-2006 LS430 after sunset. Try and drive the car in darker places, if you can!

You will be amazed with the output, and well simply put, hooked!

+1 for hid retrofit...you gs guys are lucky to have such a large headlight assembly...you can go with ls/q45/maybe even dual tsx/s2k...possibilities are endless

retrofit is the best way to go...just getting those boosted ballasts/bulbs set won't throw the light any farther...it's just going to be the same distance but a lot brighter. projectors are the only way to go for distance =)
