Ok guys i came across a killer deal.. i bought a pair of TL projectors for 80$, so now im thinking i want to retrofit it in my sc300, is it possible? i havent seen anyone do this... why is that? anyone has any info on how to do the retro for TL projectors?
The retro is the same for the TL projectors as the TSX. Reason why no one has attempted is because TL is Bi-Xenon and has a lil extra mess to deal with than a straight TSX projector, due to the hi/lo shield soleniod. The SC headlights don't have much room top to bottom, but you can make it fit with some trimming.
TL lenses are great, and have awesome output along with some great color modding capabilities. I say good find for the TL's at that price, almost makes me want to tell you to swap a ZKW lens in those puppies!
so do i go through the same procedure as a tsx retrofit? or what else do i have to really do?
Simply test fit the TL projector into the SC housing and see how much room you have. I can't imagine it fitting without some changes to the projector though, the TL has this bi-zenon soleniod that you can remove.
Disassembled TL Projector (Bi-Zenon apparatus on the bottom)
Color Modd'd TSX (Left) Stock TSX (Right) *No solenoid*
As you can see there is no solenoid so there is more space to work with.
So you can see how spacing comes into play here. Just play around with it until you are happy.
