Default Got a deal. TL projector retrofit it is.

I went to buy a pair of lexus IS350 projectors from someone thinking I'll try it out on my foglights, and see if I can get a decent output. It turns out, he had a pair of TL projectors lying around, one of them had a defect on the lens. It didn't affect output, but I just ordered ZKW-R clear lens from TRS. The seller had TL projectors retrofitted in his headlights, and it made my IS250 HID headlights look like it wasn't even on.

Anyway, I got a pair of Acura TL bi-xenon projectors, 2 Ballasts, 4 Bulbs.. for $100.
So damn excited, going to get this project underway this saturday. Been reading quite a bit, and I get that it'll be a challenge but it can be done. I'm a mechanical engineer student for gods sake.
I've been getting the concensus that the TL projectors are a highly regarded choice, paired with ZKW-R clear lens. Can't go wrong.

The seller fired up a 100w ballast, it was ridiculous. I wouldn't roll with 100w but it was cool to look at. Although I am seriously considering 55w ballasts for a little extra light output. Bulbs are cheap to replace. Depending on how easy it will be to access the headlights to replace them, will reflect the final choice.

I'm just excited, like a kid with his new toy. Breaking the IS curse of terrible light output.

Has anyone done a TL retrofit in the 2is yet? I see some with tax and mini h1s, but no TL yet.

Testing.. 15ft from garage door at the same height as 2IS's projectors.
This one had the defect in the lens. I see the glare in the middle. And it has all kinds of smudges on it.
STILL LOOKS BETTER THAN MY 2IS already.

Perhaps you should use these on your headlights instead of your fogs. I personaly retrofited my 2012 lights with TSX projectors and it was night and day. I could just imagine what the outcome would be be with these projectors which are even better.

Oh, forgot to mention. I decided to use them for my HEADLIGHTS, not Foglights.

Getting a pair of TSX projectors for the fogs.
This is going to be epic for me.

Nobody has documented a TL projector retrofit on the 2IS yet. If one exists, they did not post to the forums. I personally have s2000 projectors in mine, and the back of the housing had to be cut. The projector fits, but because its a back-loaded projector (compared to the 2IS side-loading), the bulbs would be impossible to change without cutting away at the housing. I would imagine with the TL projector, you will have to cut out quite a bit in order to fit the projector. Lengthwise, the TL projectors are nearly 4cm longer than the S2000 projectors, so good luck!!

From my experience with TSX projectors I'd say that the TL is very similar except for the bi-xenon part. If I'm correct you should have enough room to align the lights with the factory alignment screws. Also like mentioned above you'll have to cut the back of the housing with a whole saw to load the bulb.
