Q45 Retrofit completed. Pix Inside!
I just finished DallasGS4's retrofit. Took me quite a while to complete all the work, I just want to show you all the finished product
The camera flash reveals a ton of scratches from polishing, but they aren't visible to the naked eye. The outer lenses are very smooth and all the scratches and rock chips have been removed. And no, the Q45 projector is not touching the housing, it's just the camera angle. Note that the housing is paint matched to Diamond White
I'll get some beam shots posted when I install these on his car tomorrow.
Now on with the pix, enjoy!

It's a retrofit for a customer. This was actually only half a retrofit...meaning I redid/rebuilt the retrofit. The previous retro job was absolutely horrible. Paint/glue and scratches all over the place. Everything was horribly mis-aligned...etc.
The actual projector and several of the brackets were damaged by the previous "retrofitter"....I don't even think I can call him that lol. I pretty much had to re-align everything and glue it all together. Yes I know glue is not the best way to do this, but pretty much all the brackets on the projector were broken. I used a thermally stable glue to keep everything secured back in place.
Heh, yeah thats what I recommended when doing the retrofit. It's a different look, but it's unique. Nobody has ever paint-matched the housing to the car color so I guess theres a first time for everything
It turned out looking pretty nice so I guess this project was a success

Amazing work!!! Just looking at the end project, and the detail of it all...I cant imagine how much time and patience went it to it, but it was definitely worth it!!!!

Well, the paint on the housing was actually done by a body shop. It cost around $75 to do the paint, but it's color matched to the car with the same 3 stage paint.

Well I recommended this because nobody has ever done this before. The buyer agreed with me on this, and it's really not too hard to pull out the outer housing to repaint later on.

The ring was messed up by the previous retrofitter. There was glue and corrosion all over the ring. I would of left it as is, but it would of looked horrible. Otherwise I agree that the original finish would of looked nicer.

As for whoever wants me to do these, yeah I can do it but it usually takes me a little while to complete. I'm juggling school time around with retrofit time . Usually my return time is going to be around 2-3 weeks.

This is what I consider a "true retrofit". Some of the hack jobs I see really **** me off. They ruin the reputation of the real retrofitters, and also mess up peoples thoughts of what a good retro is supposed to look like. Not to mention they rip the buyer off several hundred or dollars. I might charge at a higher rate, and take longer to finish....but the end product and quality will explain why.
