I want to change the wedge bulb in the shifter gate to LED. How do I get access to the bulb?

That is actually very easy.

Well, remove the wooden shifter, then use a flat head (put some tape over the edges) remove teh wood. Open the center console, and use that edge, adn carefully pull the wood through. Then pull on the plastic to remove the shifter unit, and then twist the bulb out of place.

I know on the LS, that not a single bolt, or a screw is involved.

No, im sorry I dont. But I do know it has a green cover on it. I've actually took off the shifer gate a few times to buff it out, including the wood that surounds.

It will take you about 5 times to reach it. Just becareful when pulling off the wood. Becareful not to scrach your Headunit when putting it back in.

 

This is for a GS400 guys.

 

yea, but the GS and LS shared the same tranny and same style of shifter plates (for the GS400) so it should apply to my LS's

 

Its the same process and its a 74 bulb.

yes 1 very small bulb and it has a green slip cover over it.

yup, same for the LS.

 

not yet, im looking through the diagrams for the shifter and the way the lighting works to see whether or not i wanna use an LED or just a blue bulb.

 

Yes...its #74....simple to replace....i remember see the bulb when I swapped out my burlwood to blackwood (non-stick on).
