The reason is........
It's not a simple task to install HIDS. In fact you cannot just put new bulbs, but the entire circuitry has to be changed in addition to installing specific HID bulb hardware. You will find a wealth of info on the www.acuramdx.org website in relation to installing HIDS. Many have installed aftermarket HIDS on their MDXs

Woah! I checked everywhere, including with Lexus Corporate and found that you could not get HID without Navigation. In all my searching, I never saw one Silversport with HID.
Where are you located?

This is my first post here - but glad to finally have found the site. Oddly enough I found the web link on acuramdx.org! FWIW the RX is highly regarded by many MDX owners and members of that site
Re the HIDs/heated seats, etc......
Same here in Dallas area. My RX had Prem Plus with HIDs, wood steering wheel & heated seats. Most RXs equipped this way. Dealer also added roof rack, wheel locks & cargo mat to all RXs I saw.
Don't have much use for the heated seats - I took delivery on 1/2/01 & only used them 2x - but love the HIDs.

If you bought just plain SS, they don't come with HID. All the current SS already included HID and all the nice options. I back order a MDX for three months, and so sick of it. Just give up and bought my SS off the web two weeks ago. Lexus.com force a bunch of option like HID, spoiler to it.
It's funny that I cruised around last week. Two guys stop and ask my what kind of headlight I got, and told me how bright and great they are.
