Default Daytime-Running Headlights off?

Can the CBEST turn off the daytime-running headlights?
Has anyone done this?

Thanks.

no there is no cbest settings for that. but if you open up the hood, on the pessenger side strut tower, you see a thing that says dangerous, very hot, blah blah blah.... disconnect that thing, that's the day time running light module

Default Thank you for your prompt and helpful response

Have you or anyone else on this forum done this?
If I disconnect the module, I'll need something
to prevent dust and debris from entering the
terminals. Any suggestions?

Thanks again.

tons of people have done it and it works no problem. if you want use electrical tape to cover up the connector and you are good to go

I haven't done that myself, but have seen a few IS300's that have. I actually still prefer to have my DRLs on.
After disconnecting the DRL module, using electrical tape over the terminals is probably sufficient to prevent debris and dust from getting in.

i disconnected mine. i disconnected it and then put it back on the hook without the terminals actually touching and it stays on like that. you may tape it if you wish.

i don't like the DRL b/c it runs the highbeam lights at about 30-50% which to me seems will shoten the life time of the high beam.

By doing that, the high beam light on the dash will stay on. Do you guys have the same result?

Default Thank you Darden

I'm about to pull the car out to wash, but decided
to check for any replies to my previous postings.
Sure glad I did so. I now know exactly what to
look for under the hood to disengage the DRL's.
Your picture is USEFUL.
THANK YOU, and have a wonderful weekend.

Is that mean IS will not see any light on the dash but GS will?

I did mine on the GS but the high beam indicator light on the cluster stays on.

Lightbulb Keeping the DRL's on?

[QUOTE]Originally posted by bchau_gt

A good point. Disconnecting them is fine if you want to potentially add some life to the bulbs, but some states ( like here in VA ) have the lights-on law that applies when wipers are in use or when visibility is less than 500 feet. (at the cop's discretion). Talk about a traffic law that SUCKS .....but that is what we have to deal with in some areas. So, unless you are really diligent and remember to turn them on and off every time these conditions apply, you are probably better off with just keeping the DRL's connected and not take a chance on getting a ticket. The law in VA ( it may vary in other states) is that a cop may NOT stop you simply for not having them on with the wipes, but if the cop notices it when you ARE stopped, he / she can write an additional citation.
And for you guys who don't have to deal with this law in your state, more power to you.

California traffic cops and patrol is still way worse.

The high beam light on the dash should not go on when the connector is pulled off and disconnected. No biggie. The only other light on the dash is the leveling indicator light, that should not be involved in this whatsoever.
