Default HIDs on SC?

I just installed HIDs on my SC400 and they work great. The light is much much brighter than stock and have that expensive look to it.

The problem is, looking at the lights from afar, it seems like the passenger side light is a bit purpleish than the driver side, which appears to be whiter in terms of color.

Is this purely due to the installation angle or perhaps headlights' mounting angle difference? Or do I have a defective bulb?

Does anyone have similar experience regarding this problem?

Thanks.

Jon

moving to Lighting

FYI, mine look the same on both ends. I think you should check how they are mounted as it makes a difference

I really hope that's not the case here.

Remove the bulbs from the housing and and see if there is a color difference. If there isn't, it may be a bad base or the stock projector doesn't like it.

Was this a Kit or a retrofit?

I am not a HID expert by any means but even a small movement within a encasement that reflects light could cause the light emitted to be moved further along in the spectrum just as a prism twisted in light moves the bands of colors.

If you look at your car head on you say one looks more purple. Now look at that purple light and move around until it seems as clear white as the other. It could be positioned off in the light fixture itself or it could be the whole light enclosure needs to be adjusted left/right/up/down. If you next park right in front of a garage door you can also see if one light is higher or divergent to either side by marking the center (that assumes that the car is on a level surface).

Thanks for the advices, guys.

Just to make sure, I pulled both bulbs out of my headlights and looked at them side by side. Gawd these bulbs are really, really bright at night.

Unfortunately, the passenger side light bulb still turned out to be purpleish compare to the driver side, which is a whiter.

This kit came assembled and appeared to be in great condition. The items were also very carefully packaged.

This is a Super Vision kit that I purchased from KVA just a few days ago from the general classified section.

That's totally odd...they were fine in mine...look here (they are the fogs...though it doesn't matter...pics were taken in the January...):

As you can see no purple...I even checked before I sent them and they looked identical. I would try and switch the kits (left to right/right to left) and check to see if it is still purple...worth the try...also make sure all the connections are tight as they may have come lose during shipping...other then that, it is a very straight forward kit...Take a picture and let us see it.

It is weird.

Switching side may be out of question for now since I've pretty much got the ballasts and ignitors all tied down by now.

However, I will take some pictures tonight and show you the differences. They're not enough to really bother me but you can definitely see the difference with naked eyes.

Sorry for the long wait,

I've finally taken some pictures of these HIDs lights installed. This kit actually looks fantastic in the picture. I have a Canon S200 Digital Camera and I've tried shooting pictures of the HIDs with either flash light or without.

Unfortunately, the camera was unable to capture the color difference between the two light bulbs.

The actual difference between the light bulbs that I can describe to the best of my ability is that the purplish one looks more like 6000k one and the whitish one looks more than the OEM 4300k setup. I've check the connections and they seem to be perfect. KVA did a great job hooking up all the wires and I couldn't see anything that's loose at all.

Here are the pictures!

Good pics...Unfortunately they look fine in the pics...and I like how clean the beam pattern is with projectors waaaaayyyyy better then on reflectors with the disco ball beam pattern...

Did you try to just swap out the bulbs themselves, leaving everything else in place?

I haven't had the chance to swap the bulbs yet. I did try to pull out the bulbs yesterday but they wouldn't come out. I was afraid to mess with them so I simply left them on.

I think I am going to leave things the way it is for a while and see if I like them.

So far, they perform well and for the price that I got them for, they're simply pretty good bang for the bucks.

Adjust the pitch of the projector. The purple one is too low or the whiter one is too high. This should solve your problem.
